A software development company in Chicago — catalogs, portals, APIs
Custom software for the storefront and the systems behind it. Magento is the usual stack. Shopify and WooCommerce when that is the platform you already run.
What custom software means at this shop
Since 2008. The work is Magento rebuilds, integrations, and retainers that keep a live catalog in sync with warehouse and orders. Blackwing, Dessert Lady, USA Knife Maker, Double U — those are catalogs we still run, on /work/.
01
Catalogs
Storefront software that has to survive a real order: configurables, B2B price lists, multi-store, a checkout the warehouse can fulfill. Usually Magento. Shopify or WooCommerce when that is the better box.
02
Portals
Dealer and customer portals with company accounts, contracted pricing, and order history. A dealer login on a marketing site is not a portal.
03
APIs
The pipes to warehouse, EDI, ERP, 3PL, and punchout catalogs. We connect the store to systems you already paid for. Depth of that work is on /integrations/.

Questions
- Are you a software development company in Chicago?
- Yes. Custom software development in Chicago since 2008: catalogs, B2B portals, APIs, and the warehouse, EDI, and ERP connections behind the storefront. We are not an ERP vendor and we do not sell Magento modules here.
- What does custom software Chicago mean on this site?
- Software built around how the business already operates — dealer or customer portals, catalog rules, and the pipes to warehouse, EDI, and ERP. It is not a theme-marketplace preset and not a packaged WMS.
- What is the difference between services and extensions?
- Services: we build, host, or migrate it for you. Extensions: software you install. Porter is the first Chicago Web product. Nora for WordPress is coming soon. Magento modules are sold only at toweringmedia.com.
- Do you quote custom software before a call?
- No. A focused website and a 10,000-SKU catalog wired to an ERP are not the same job. You get scope and price in writing after a short discovery call. Hosting is published: managed WordPress from $79/month, WooCommerce from $149/month, and managed Magento from $199/month.
- Do you only build Magento?
- Magento is where experience runs deepest. We also implement Shopify, WooCommerce, WordPress, and PrestaShop when that is the better box, plus US hosting and migrations between those platforms.
- Do you also design websites, or only custom software?
- Both. Chicago web design is on the homepage. This page is custom software: catalogs, dealer and customer portals, and the APIs to warehouse, EDI, and ERP. Magento is the usual stack.
